The North Kansas City Public Library and High School Media Center is sponsoring a summer reading program for teens. The program will encourage young adults ages 12-18 to read regularly by incorporating reading into their daily routine. It also will encourage active participation in the Kansas City community.
All summer reading participants will be asked to read books, while getting out in the community. Whether a participant goes to visit the College Basketball Experience, Nelson-Atkins Museum, runs a 5K, or volunteers at a local homeless shelter, the library will reward such efforts through the 2010 Summer Reading Program.
