Contemplating

-Blogger is back to its usual shit. DAMN.-

My op date's been confrimed, hospital ward and all booked.
finally decided to do it after so many years of hesitation etc etc etc.
YAYYAYYAYYAY!
Hence, i'll probbly be skipping the school's Macau trip (if there is).
anyway, there alottttttt of pigeons there, i heard!

Alright, short update today.
Gotta eat lunch & out to meet Terry.

Stucked with another dilemma (ARGH, AS USUAL!),
Contemplating whether to get that pair of muji slippers.
Can't find the picture anywhere on the web though.

I like it cos of the surface material & all,
which is usually v hard to come by.
Will totally be suitable for me, even more useful after the op!
Not just like any flip flop kind of slipper.
But i've been buying many slippers recently:(
49$ buckaroos, & i'll be even more broke.
YES OR NO?!?!?!
ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

plusplusplus, if i purchase that pair and combine the receipt w Terry's purchase yesterday,
It'll be more than enough to apply for the MUJI card!

GAH GAH GAH.
hate such situations.

AustinSurreal "Vacation" Almost OverSXSW 2010 Kicking into full swing

Hey just a quick note. Been dealing with some family stuff in my home town. My damn laptop is messed up and photoshop won't work. I will get back to blogging hard after the 1st of August.

Splain later, maybe.

But ummmmm, if you are reading this, and you make music, you need to know that we begin taking applications for SXSW MUSIC showcases on MONDAY AUGUST 3rd. Go to www.sxsw.com or www.sonicbids.com and see how you can do just such a thing. The earlier you get in, the better. Helps me, helps you and helps me to help you, and such. So yeah, get your shit in ASAP.

OK for now I am going to go back to cleaning an old country house and listening to classical music.

Elvis Sighting In Greenville, Maine

My husband Mike is turning 50 this week!!! He is pretty tough to surprise and my son Adam and I thought we'd plan something special for this milestone in his life. After almost 29 years of marriage, it's hard to be sneaky...

When he had turned 30, we were living near a round barn and we decorated the roof of the barn with a huge sign announcing "Mike is turning the big 30". We also had the owner of one of his favorite restaurants - Big G's, put "Mike D. is turning 30 - wish him a Happy Birthday!", on his road sign on Benton Avenue in Winslow. A good friend of his was also turning 30 later that year and his wife and I decided to rent a limo in honor of their birthdays. We went out to dinner and then as we came out of the restaurant, they were greeted by a limo driver who opened up the limo door and said, "Your limo is waiting". They laughed, thinking that we had paid the driver to say this but were stunned when we said that we had truly rented it for the next three hours. We had a cooler with their favorite beverages inside and a rented movie. We only drove about 40 minutes away to Gardner, Maine and back but the ride was really fun. They were surprised with this gift but thrilled!

When Mike turned 40, I had a surprise party for him at another favorite restaurant, The Pointe Afta, also in Winslow. All of our friends and families showed up and surprised him for appetizers and drinks. They all brought joke gifts suitable for someone now "Over The Hill" - shirts and gadgets with Old Fart printed on them, Geritol, and even a pin cushion doll where you could select different aches & pains - age appropriate...

Now Mike is turning 50 and he had already mentioned way back in June, suspecting that I wouldn't let this special birthday go unnoticed, that he didn't want any kind of birthday party this time and actually didn't want me to do anything at all. Of course we couldn't let this special birthday go by without any kind of hoopla....

Knowing that he has always wanted to rent a camp in northern Maine, I mentioned it to Adam and he went on line to search for camps in the Greenville area and found one that was very reasonably priced for the weekend. It was an older camp and privately owned. Adam contacted the owner and made the reservation. I had to make up a story to get out of the house on Thursday to meet Adam and buy the groceries needed for the weekend getaway.

We didn't tell Mike anything about our plans, even when he started getting suspicious a couple of days ago, thinking that we were up to something. Even my daughter Amanda kept the secret. Adam borrowed his truck a few hours before we were planning on leaving to load coolers, wood, and the canoe. When he and his wife Amber showed up with our grand dog Ella, we hit the road. Only then did we tell him that we were going to Greenville for the weekend. He was pleasantly surprised and quite relieved.

It had been raining all week, as it has for most of the summer so far, and we were hoping for good weather. It rained on and off all the way to Greenville, but as soon as we got there, it stopped. The camp we rented was on a dirt road off a couple of main roads. It was past the point where the electricity ran and it was powered by propane gas. It was an older camp but quaint. Ella was immediately thrilled that it overlooked Wilson Pond and ran right down and jumped in.

The sun came out yesterday morning and after a short hide and seek game, stayed out for the rest of the day. Adam had bought Mike his hunting/fishing license for a gift and the two of them went out in the canoe in the afternoon to try their luck. No fish were caught - I'm told that they weren't big enough yet so they left them in the pond... It was so relaxing and Ella was thrilled to have all of us there with her. She kept jumping in and out of the pond and running through the woods all day long.

The funniest part of the weekend occurred yesterday while we were sitting on the deck having lunch. My daughter Amanda is the biggest Elvis fan that I know. She was seated across from Ella in the pictured Elvis camp chair that has a huge head of Elvis on the back and Love Me Tender printed on the seat. She had just gotten up from the chair when all of a sudden, Ella started to make a low growling sound.

We had heard a story from the owner about previous renters having a bear come into the screened in porch during the night and wondered if the bear had returned. Ella kept up the growling and started going in the direction of the chair. We figured that an animal was sitting just inside the woods behind, directly lined up with the chair. Ella made her way over to the chair and started sniffing and looking at one side of the chair and then the other, still growling. After a minute, she went back and laid down. It was then that we realized that Ella was actually growling at Elvis and trying to figure out if it was a person or not because of the huge head. We couldn't stop laughing. What do you know; someone who didn't know who Elvis Presley was!!!

We had a lot of laughs, the sun came out, and Mike had a great birthday weekend! What will we do for his 60th????

Now, i'm aware of how much I can't you let go.

Photobucket

I was so close to losing you. So so close.
There were times that i felt like i was too tired,
and all i wanted was to give you up.
But now i know, I can't.
I can't give you up, nor can i let you go.

I love you more than anything or anyone else.
I let my life revolve around you, I give up so much for you.
& yet, sometimes it feels like you never try hard enough,
at least not anymore.
You get distracted with all your achievements and goals, its not wrong.
But with those came neglection.
Its like you were forcing me to find my own life.
I couldnt, because I had nothing left, after giving up everything for you.

I don't get to choose the friends I make.
You choose the friends for me,
because you were not pleased with the choices of friends I made.
Leaving me with always the same group of people,
& yet blaming me for not making the effort to find friends.

But these were all yesterday's problems.
Because all i hope for now, is the improvement of situations.
I made a choice, a choice that i didn't want to have to make.
I wanted it all, but I know that I can't have everything.
Making a promise which came along with the conditions that I'm clearly aware of.

I know you were afraid that I would fall for him.
It was my mistake because I couldnt give up an eyecandy for a 100% of you.
After this, you'll probably never trust me even more.
Now, to turn it all around, I'm letting go of everything just for you.
Because I'm unable to give you up for someone or something else.
I just can't.

No more texting, no more talking, no nothing & I'll stick to all i promised.
I don't want to lie to you anymore & neither do I want you to give up on me.
You know where my happiness lies, so don't doubt that.
But i do hope youre able to see how much i'm willing to give up for you.
letting go of something that i was so reluctant to, at the beginning.
& i really hope you do appreciate it.

Show more love, give me enough of your attention, make me feel important.

I Love You.
Always had, Always will.

It's Summer, let's relax.

Normally I'm a banger and bass type of guy, but sometimes I want something with a little groove. Something where the response is not in the build, but variation of beat. Pause with out cause, a lone snare reverberating for a bass drum to kick off the melody. The moment where the crowd lets off their shell in a hand clap and sine wave, not a DJ pouring vodka down their mouthes.
It's the girl in the paisley dress, dancing to herself; sometimes it takes courage to get on the floor and dance with her. In that brief moment of dancing with her you notice:
The way she tossed her hair.
The way her shoulders moved.
The way her hand moved down your back.
The way her feet moved away, but ever cautiously towards you.
And what seems like a flash in time, her friend calls her out for a cigarette.
And... That's what I think is what makes great disco. It's all in the chase. The songs are never long enough. Sometimes I wish I could sink into the lush sonic soundscape, but it's made to move to. That's where the fun is; the fleeting moment to let considerations aside. No matter how brief, experience it for what it is.

I'm pretty fucking hammered and I swear I won't be nearly as emo in the future.

I am at my mama house, and Saturday it's really goin' down

Oh man, I never had any will whatsoever to go to a school reunion. Besides, with Facebook, who needs it. Every blivit that ever shared a beaker with you in chemistry class can be found right there. Oftentimes they find YOU. But um, this here reunion of sorts is gonna be a great time. And well, I could use a good time right about now!

Yeah man, I'm out here in my hometown of Erie, PA. One of the Rust Belts finest towns. I was planning on coming up for a long weekend, but that turned into a much longer trip due to some circumstances that don't need to be blogged about (nothing horrible, just family needed some help) and well I have to say that this past week being here, at my mama house, has really upped my excitement levels for this show.

Going back to my roots and such.

It's so real though. Most of y'all know me as some dude who knows a lot of rappers from Texas, and rides for the music of said artists pretty tough. But reality is, I am and always have been a punk rocker who likes all types of music. I learned back in those days - uh, the 80's - that being a punk rocker meant being able to do whatever you wanted to do, with no regard for any, um, well for lack of a better word, HATERS. The DIY (Do it Yourself) philosophy always appealed to me. Especially when it comes to music and the arts.

And that's what really appealled to me about Houston rap. From the Rap-A-Lot / South Park Coalition early days, to today, the independent spirit that runs through Houston is just amazing. The energy that comes from that cities hip-hop scene is unparalleled, and when I moved there in 1989, I felt it immediately.

Anyway, the show on the flyer above was conceived by me, and put together and executed and promoted by a wonderful group of folks who all hold those days at the Continental Ballroom near and dear. More shouts to them later when I run photos from the event.

That little run down spot on 20th and Peach, in Erie, Pennsylvania, meant so much to so many. I am a firm believer that one of the biggest problems in our world is that so often the youth have nothing positive to do. Not everyone wants to play basketball, go to shooting ranges, join the scouts, go to church, or whatever. Some of us grew up with a raging passion for music and art and never had a place to really experience such culture at its purest. The Continental Ballroom opened its doors to bands and promoters, many of whom including myself were under 18, and that opened the door to poster designers, radio shows, wanna be independent journalists, dancers, and more.

The effect that place had on my city was enormous and much needed and I just want to make sure that it's remembered. And I'd like to inspire young people, in cities that may seem like Nowheresville, USA to a 17 year old, to get inspired like I did and to create a place for themselves and their communities to come together and thrive. A gallery, a music hall, a sports center, a gathering place. All this shit is important.

Anyway, 99.9% of you reading this won't be able to attend, but I'll post some photos. Should be quite fun.

REALITY RAP IS NOT DEAD!New Music from The League of Extraordinary G's!

Oh man, I keep tellking y'all that Central Texas is the place for this rap shit right now. The place where talent and heart is shining through. Where people still have meaningful lyrics and give a shit to do a good show. It's a wellspring down here.

This is an Austin Super Group of sorts consisting of members of the groups Da C.O.D., Dred Skott and Southbound. Honestly, three of my favorite groups out in any capacity right now. The song below is entitled "A.P.D." and I posted the lyrics below so you can really feel it.

The League Of Extraordinary G's- "A.P.D."

REGGIE COBY (Dred Skott)
How many shots will it take? How many straws on the camels back till that bitch break,
How many more niggas you gon shoot, and how many more times till it's you,
And how many more lies do we gotta listen to, till you muthafuckin cowards grow a spine and you finally tell the truth,
Justified homicide huh? i need to see some proof, or do our lives even make a difference to you?
Maan, they don't give a fuck about you and me, our struggle to succeed, what's happening in the community,
What ever happened to serve and protect, i deserve some respect but instead you rather shoot at me,
So im gon do to them, before they do to me, what the fuck would you do if you were me?
Now you tell me what's worse the dopeboy or the burgler,
The pimp the whore or the muthafuckin MURDERER.....

SB Da 6TH STREET BULLY (Dred Skott)
This morning i woke up and twitted-in, everybody goin nuts saying the laws struck again,
This time it was a youngsta, barely old enough to get gigarettes was took from us,
Said he fit the description of the disturbance they was summoned on,
Said he was strapped, when they searched him found a wallet and a cell phone,
That's fucked up it's too late cuz he gone, another family the APD tore down,
Now it's far past due what niggas should do, that could easily be you, so i declare war on the boys in blue,
(not the cuz) But the fuzz, 5-0 done fucked up, we ridin for ever family in Austin you took from,
Rest in peace to Daniel Rocha and Sphia King, Jesse Owens and Gonzo's brother we gon make a scene,
2000 deep in all black down 11th street, headed to the capital governer Perry got beef!

MR. GREEZO (DA C.O.D.)
So this the policy, murder no apology? Ima stay strapped for a fact cuz you gotta be,
Shoot first then you got a chance like the lottery, pussy ass pigs ain't shit but a mockery,
League full of G's on top no apostrophe, rest in peace all the deseased your still a part of me,
And my niggas locked up for the century, revolution first when it's time come and mention me,
I was raised on Dead Prez and Bun-b, felon by design so you know where my gun be,
Comin at your boy sideways like a gumbi, APD that's the all puss division,
Cowards wit a badge waiting for a true colision, with some niggas that'll shoot at you for livin,
And i'm wrong for pimpin? A loaded 38 in size 38's that's true religion....

LOWKEY (SOUTHBOUND)
I say fuck 'em up against the wall, cuz they ain't never protected or served me once at all,
I know you feel me your rollin just minding business, they get right behind you trippin
and wishing that you gon fuck up and give them reasons to bust, give em reason to taze,
Ask em if crime pays, they know just like i know, the money go missin my prime suspect is 5-0
I seen it with my own eyes, i know i wasn't speeding cuz i ride slow,
If you from Austin then you should be mad, Williamson too, when will it be too much they just itching to shoot,
And when they do they get a vacation chillin imune, but catch me with a quarter-pound i'd be in prison by noon,
Them bithces shoot you in the back dawg that's a cowardly move, they got some friends on the hourly news,
I think it's time for retribution like we standin at church, tell us why the videotapes go missing like they're amber alerts,
RIP to all the fallen got your family first in my thoughts
We gon take it to em so they always remember your loss,
Fuck Art Acevedo, Will Wynn, and anybody else that's standing up for all these pussy cops, fuck 'em all.....

After helping Zac advertise for the blogshop,
I was also reminded of this!
Random, but yeah.

Written and sang from the bottom of the heart;
an expression of thoughts (I HOPE!!!!),
For the person he was doing it for~
Woahhh.

Verse:
我不是故意爱上我自己
是因为你没表示过对我的珍惜
开不开心,你问自己
你的未来从没为我考虑

我累了请你照顾好自己
你要的呵护现在已变成了回忆
后不后悔,你问自己
我真的没有办法继续

Chorus:

Bridge:
没有分离,才是生命的奇迹
因为爱你,才流下第一泪滴
你选择距离,来显示你的逃避
你不知道你,伤我伤得彻底

Oh well, time passes so quicklyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. ~

Luscious Lilac

I'm in a creative mood this morning! Of course I wait until my last day of vacation. I work better under pressure, but I drive myself crazy.... These lovely pieces are going on my website right after this blog post. I'll probably add a matching bracelet soon because I am all about the matching sets!! The necklace is a series of silver wire wrapped links in various shapes and sizes of lilac mother of pearl shell beads, cream colored resin round beads, and antique silver filigree round beads. It has a lovely ivy leaf pewter toggle clasp. I used the larger round and the square lilac mother of pearl shells along with the silver filigree to create the dainty earrings that compliment the necklace so beautifully.

You can't make people love you, but you can make them fear you.

--
Because you still do not understand,
Because you will probably never be able to,
Because what we are is not what we were,
Because we can no longer return to then,
Because there's a communication breakdown,
Because we cannot agree,
Because I control too much,
Because you're suffocating,
Because I'm only what you made me to be,
Because I am never gonna be who you want me to be,
Because you can never trust me enough,
Because I am just not her,
Because I cannot stand unfaithfulness,
Because what's mine is never gonna be others',
Because you lied to me,
Because it is what I will never tolerate,
Because I am never gonna be depressed like how i was,
Because I fear to trust,
Because it all made me insecure,
Because my heart will never be broken again,
Because my heart is too weak to suffer another hurt,
Because I don't want another history,
Because all that I have become was made to be his,
Because in life all we have are choices,
Because I betrayed myself,
Because I all that i have given up is never enough for you,
Because I will never be as important as how you are to me,
Because all might become nothing,
Because I cannot adapt to changes,
Because you'll be able to do anything for your friends,
Because I'm jealous and selfish,
Because I cannot risk again,
Because its not enough,
Because I need 100% of your love,
Because I need to feel important,
Because I don't know what's left ahead,
Because I am no longer sure,
Because I'm tired,
Because sometimes I lie to myself to feel better,
Because sometimes it all seems like a dream,
Because dreams are never gonna be reality,
Because there will be a time whereby I would have to wake up,
Because I don't even know if this is real,
Because your actions speak louder than words,
Because i don't know how much I can trust words,
Because there are times I feel so used,
Because I am afraid,
Because I am no longer all that fills your heart,
Because our love seems to be fading,
Because it feels like you've stopped trying hard enough,
Because I am weaker than you think I am,
Because I am not your toy.

THANKS BRUCE!

George W. Hart

Few visual artists can capture the essence of life through sculpture. Basing his work off of the ever so apparent ideas of balance and symmetry, George W. Hart creates some truly astounding sculptures using a wide array of non conventional materials. While the pieces are best viewed in person, these digital images still make me green with envy. Each sculpture holds an immense amount of attention to detail all while retaining its own pleasing aesthetic. You can find pictures of most of his work at the link above. Much love Yooths!
