Annual Nancy Run Jay Walk
The 2nd Annual Nancy Run Jay Walk is scheduled for Saturday, June 26, 2010, beginning at 10 a.m. at Macken Park in North Kansas City. Last year's event raised more than $23,000 with funds divided equally between three agencies supported by Nancy Hodge Shy and Jay Jensen:
  • Northland Health Care Access
  • Synergy Services
  • Midwest Foster Care and Adoption Agency

Each agency helps children and youth in our community.

Kid’s Fishing Derby
Gladstone Parks & Recreation and the Northland Optimist Club are co-hosting a Kids Fishing Derby Saturday, June 5. It will be held at the Hamilton Heights Park Fishing Pond from 9 a.m. to noon. Pre-registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. on the day of the event. Hamilton Heights Park, located at 67th & N. Main, boasts a handicap accessible fishing dock.

The fishing derby is free of charge. Children ages 3-14 years can participate in contests such as largest fish caught and most fish caught. Individuals from each age group will receive prizes compliments of Gladstone Wal-Mart. Kids are asked to bring a fishing pole, but worms will be provided.

Anime Movie Night for Teens at Mid-Continent Public Library-Antioch Branch
