FBLA Challenge Yields 6 First Place Wins

Missouri District 4 Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) competed during the month of February - first on Feb. 17 at Maple Woods Community College for skills events and online testing, and later on Feb. 26 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, Liberty, for speaking and team events.

Twenty-three area high schools participated, including Central, Excelsior Springs, Fort Osage, Fort Osage CTC, Hickman Mills, Kearney, Lee’s Summit, Lee’s Summit North, Lee’s Summit West, Liberty, Lincoln Prep, Oak Grove, Oak Park, Platte County, Raytown, Raytown South, Ruskin, Smithville, Staley, Truman, West Platte, William Chrisman and Winnetonka.

First place winners from Oak Park High School included Morgan Barling for Business Procedures, Neal Jacobson for both Accounting II and Business Calculations, Katelynn Stull for Intro to Business Communications, and the team of Nick Deason, Kaitlyn Lewis and Mark Wopata for Business Ethics. Carson Sanford of Staley High School placed first in Economics.
