Block Schedule Remains for 2010-11

The Board of Education endorsed a recommendation from Supt. White to keep the high school block schedules in place for the 2010-11 school year -- noting the need for further study. The plan is to present a recommendation to the Board of Education in November 2010 to improve the efficiency of high school schedules. Between now and then, the District will create a comprehensive study committee to look at various factors including plan time, class size, teacher-student loads, teacher collaboration, instructional minutes, advisory, etc. The intent is to ensure that our high school schedules present the greatest combination of student opportunity, instructional effectiveness and budget relief.

As the cost reduction process continues to take shape, the Board and Administration remain committed to effectively serving a growing student population in the midst of shrinking financial resources within the framework of a balanced budget.
