T.A.K.E. Defense Program Offers Class for Women
Clay County Senior Services is partnering with The Ali Kemp Educational Foundation (T.A.K.E) to offer a free self-defense class for senior citizens 60 years of age and older at Liberty Middle School. Priority registration will be given to seniors until three weeks prior to the class. Seniors are encouraged to invite their daughters, granddaughters and friends to participate as well. All attendees must be women ages 12 years and older. Participants under the age of 18 will need a
parent/guardian’s signature.

The T.A.K.E. Foundation has educated and empowered more than 30,000 women in self-defense and awareness. The goal of the program is to raise awareness and to give women the self-protection skills they need to avoid becoming the victims of violent crime. The T.A.K.E. Defense program is free. Donations will be accepted.

Class Date: Saturday, July 17, 2010
Class Time: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Class Location: Liberty Middle School (1500 South Withers, Liberty, MO 64068)

Independence Day Fireworks RESCHEDULED
The Gladstone 4th of July fireworks display will be presented as an encore presentation to the Theatre in the Park performance of “Annie Get Your Gun” on Saturday, July 10
at 8:30 p.m. Come enjoy the musical as well as the spirit of patriotism and community in the park. The location is Oak Grove Park (76th and N. Troost). This event is free and concessions are available for the performance. KC Milan Soccer Teams Looking for Players

The Northland is home to a new premier youth soccer club, KC Milan. The club strives to develop youth soccer players through proper tactical and technical training in a positive and fun environment, emphasizing team play while encouraging players to develop their own individual styles.

While most teams have completed tryouts and filled their rosters, there are a few teams still in need of players. Age groups still seeking players are:

U-7 Girls
U-7 Boys
U-8 Girls
U-8 Boys

U-13 Boys
U-14 Boys

Missouri Wolverines Football & Cheerleading Sign-ups

Are you ready to play some football? The NSYFL Missouri Wolverines are having
sign-ups for their 2010 youth football program on Saturday, July 31, and Sunday, August 1, at Pleasant Valley Park from 12-3 p.m. both days. The club provides tackle football for the following grades 7th–8th, 5th–6th, 3rd–4th, and flag football for K-2nd grades. The Missouri Wolverines organization has sent at least one level to the NSYFL Super Bowl the last four years. It takes speed, stamina, skill and heart to play football – are you ready? Cheerleading
Does your child love to cheer? The NSYFL Missouri Wolverines Cheer program is having sign-ups for their 2010 cheer squads on Saturday, July 31, and Sunday, August 1, at Pleasant Valley Park from 12-3 p.m. both days. We provide cheer for grades K-8. Each squad will focus on dance, tumbling, jumps, motions, stunting and sportsmanship. Squads cheer at several football games and participate in a competition at the end of the season. Participating in these activities builds confidence and teamwork without the pressure and cost of multiple practices and competitions. Come be a part of an amazing experience – Missouri Wolverine Cheerleading! Are you an experienced cheerleader over 18 years of age? We also are looking for coaches.
