Staley Girls Swimming & Diving Conference Champs

The Staley Girls' Swimming & Diving Team won seven of the 12 individual events at the conference meet and claimed their first championship. Individual winners included the following:

• The team of Patti Hemmat, Alyssa Powers, Carley Bruscato, and Samantha Shawver won the 200 Medley Relay in a state qualifying and meet record time.


• Carley Bruscato won both the 200 and 500 Freestyle events with state qualifying times in both.


• Alyssa Powers won both the 200 Individual Medley and the 100 Breaststroke, qualifying for state in both events.


• Stacy Whiston is the conference champion in 1 meter diving.


• Patti Hemmat won the 100 Backstroke in a state qualifying time.

Other notable swims included Helen Bass who placed second in both the 200 and 500 Freestyle events behind teammate Bruscato. Hannah Armato placed second in the 100 Breaststroke behind teammate Powers. Samantha Shawver placed third in both the 50 and 100 Freestyles. Carley Shawver placed third in the 100 Backstroke, and Tori Harp completed the 1-2-3 sweep in the 200 Freestyle finishing third behind Bruscato and Bass.
