Battle of the Hydaspes River


The battle of the Hydaspes River was fought in 326 year before Jezus Christ was born.When Alexsander the Great was in the Punjab region of ancient India near the Hydaspades River met King Porus from Kingdom of Paurava(kingdom of northwestern India).The Macedonian Empire army had 34000 infantry and 7000 cavalry command by Alexsander the Great(cavalry) and Craterus(infantry) against the Paurava army which had 20000 infantry,2000 cavalry,200 war elephants and 1000 chariots(vehicle which had two wheels and was driven by usually two horses)command by King Porus.Alexsander made a camp before a battle but a camp was only a trap.When the army Kingdom of Paurava saw that Alexsander made a camp from second side of the Hydaspades River the thinked that it is impossible in order to huge army of the Alexsander could go throught the river at night but for macedonian army weren't things impossible.When army King Porus saw 25000army(Alexsander doesn't want take all army because he could lost element of amazement)run on him camp was too late in order to wake up all army.Poros send 2000 cavalry which was destroyed by macedonian army(in these part of battle dead son of Poros and sweetheart horse of Alexsander the Great-Bucephalus).In the second part of the battle army Kingdom Paurava was completely destroyed.On the battlefield lieghst dead 12000 soldiers from Paurava Kingdom and 4000 infantry from Alexsander the Great army.Alexsander the Great won all battles in this war and he became King of Persia.Together with death Alexsander the Great started in 323 BC Hellenistic civilization.
