'...born to live forever more...'

Manowar - is an American heavy metal band created in 1980(sometimes it's given 1981). They play typical heavy metal(mainly old albums) and power metal(strong, speed sound with heroic lyrics).

History

'We met on English ground...'

In 1980 Joey DeMaio met Ross The Boss(Ross Friedman) in Newcastle at Black Sabbath's concert tour Heaven And Hell. Joey was bass technician and pyrotechnic(in Black Sabbath),Ross(electric guitar) was playing in band


Shakin Street which was playing with Black Sabbath. Few months later they created Manowar. Next joined Eric Adams(vocal) and Donny Hamzik(drums). They recorded album Battle Hymns and played few concerts. But Donny's playing was not enough strong for concerts so he left group in 1982. Replaced him Scott Columbus. With Scott, Manowar recorded Into Glory Ride, Hail To England and Sign Of The Hammer. In 1984 they attacked England like hundreds years ago Vikings. Next was Fighting the World & Kings of Metal(I think the best album). In 1989 group left Ross The Boss and Scott Columbus. Next to Manowar joined David Shankle(guitar) and Rhino(drums). With this people Manowar recorded The Triumph Of


Steel. In 1994 they became The Loudest Band In the World - in Hanover at concert they achieved 129.5 decibels! But in 1993 David Shankle left Manowar and in 1995 did it Rhino. To group came back Scott and joined new member - Karl Logan. In 1996 new record - Louder Than Hell, then Hell On Wheels, Hell On Stage, DVDs Hell On Earth I, Fire And Blood, CD Warriors Of The World, single The Dawn Of Battle, DVDs Hell On Earth III, Hell On Earth IV, The Day The Earth Shook - The Absolute Power, CDs Gods Of War, Gods Of War Live.

Karl Logan
(electric guitar, keyboards, classical guitar)
Joined Manowar in 1994

Karl Logan relates in Hell on Earth Part I how he met Joey DeMaio by almost running him over with his motorcycle, which is how the two hit it off.


Scott Columbus
(drums)
 From 1983 to 1991 and since 1995

Rumours claim that he has been kicked out of all his previous bands for playing too loud. It's also claimed that he plays the so called "Drums of Doom", made of stainless steel, since he plays his drums with such power that standard kits had to be replaced too regularly.


Eric Adams
(vocal)
In Manowar since 1980

Probably he's real name is Luiz Marulo. He is known for holding high note screams for over 40 seconds at Manowar shows. He can change the timbre of his voice so as to embody different characters and express different feelings. He's bowhunter too.


Joey DeMaio
(bass guitar - 4 & 8 strings, Piccolo bass, keyboards, classical guitar)
In Manowar since 1980

DeMaio is a practitioner of martial arts and weight training, and is also a great fan of motorcycles and girls. He's the best words: Hail And Kill!!!; Fuck The World!!!; To Rock, Drink And Fuck!
