District Activity Highlights

Cross Country
North Kansas City Cross Country competed at the Sectional Championship on Oct. 30. Medal winner Hannah DeVries finished 19th and qualified to compete in the State Championship meet this Saturday in Jefferson City.

Oak Park’s Max Pfleiderer and Liban Samatar also qualified for state competition in Boys Cross Country. They are the first from Oak Park to qualify in two years.

Staley Cross Country runners Michael McCulloch, Kristen Brosnan and Brianna Westervelt have all qualified for the State Championship meet and will travel to Jefferson City this weekend.

Swim & Dive
The North Kansas City High School Boys Swim and Dive team earned 4th place at the conference meet this past weekend. Medal winners included Griffin Schmitt in the 200 Free, Hunter Schmitt in the 200 IM, Bryce Reid and Nick Malvagna in the 50 Free, Carson Light and Bryce Reid in Diving, Nick Malvagna in the 100 Free, Griffin Schmitt in the 500 Free, and Hunter Schmitt in the 100 Back. Hunter Schmitt also qualified in the 100 Back for the state meet in two weeks.

The Staley Boy's Swim and Dive team took 1st place at the Suburban Conference Blue Division. The boys broke several conference and school records at the event. Top finishes and conference records are listed below.

The boys will travel to St Petersburg for the state meet on Nov. 12. They have qualified all three relays for state competition as well as several swimmers and one diver for individual competition. Alex McIntyre has qualified for state in every swimming event.

Tennis
North Kansas City High School’s Katy Lehenbauer and Sara Tuncten have both earned 1st Team All-District Tennis honors in singles and doubles.
