A Message from Supt. Todd White
After an unplanned extension of Winter Break, I am pleased to welcome back our students, families and staff for our second semester. Please know that safety is always the primary factor when considering whether or not to cancel school.
As we reopened school this week, we experienced some issues with roads near our schools and a few of our own driveways and parking lots. The ice pack and sub-freezing temperatures challenged our snow removal efforts, and I regret any complications our students and parents experienced as a result.
I appreciate the notes and calls we received from parents and students alerting us to problem areas.
I want to mention, also, that we have offered to work with the City of Kansas City, Missouri, to help them create a system that, in the future, would prioritize snow removal for streets near schools. So far, feedback from City Hall has been positive.
Thank you for your patience as we worked through the challenges “Old Man Winter” delivered us so far this winter season. As always, your feedback on how we can improve as a District is always welcome. Please feel free to e-mail me at superintendent@nkcsd.k12.mo.us to share your thoughts.
