Raven Symone Biography| Wiki| Profile| Pictures| Plan| Raven Symone Weight Loss:Raven-Symoné Christina Pearman known professionally as Raven-Symoné, or simply Raven, is an American actress, singer, songwriter, comedienne, dancer, television producer, and model. She is best known for her television roles as Olivia Kendall on The Cosby Show, Galleria Garibaldi in The Cheetah Girls and The Cheetah Girls 2, and as Raven Baxter in the Emmy Award nominated series, That’s So Raven, and ABC Family comedy film, Revenge of the Bridesmaids. She starred in the box office hits Dr. Dolittle, Dr. Dolittle 2, College Road Trip and The Princess Diaries.

Raven has also lent her voice to the animated series Kim Possible, for the character Monique and films such as Disney‘s Tinker Bell. Raven-Symoné also owns a “how-to” video website, Raven-Symoné Presents.

The Black Angels - Directions To See A Ghost

Directions to See a Ghost is the second album from Texas Psych Rockers The Black Angels. It was released digitally on April 15, 2008 by Light in the Attic Records. This certainly is a moving album. It's chock full of heavily verbed guitar coupled with driving drums and gritty bass that all but scream Velvet Underground influence. This comes as no surprise as the band's name is derived from the Underground's 'The Black Angel's Death Song.' Lead singer Alex Maas seems to tap into a bit o' the old Jim Morrison on the opening track 'You On The Run.' Give this album a good hard listen and, as always, if you like it, BUY IT!

Small Black EP

Small Black is one of many bands emerge in anew genre of psychedelic feel-good that the world has kind of been starving for. Eclectic, foggish sounds that eerily flow through you while you pour a bowl of cereal and look out the window at the sun rising and setting in one fast-forward moment of time. You want to feel happy but you feel so damn sad at the same time because it all just so damn beautiful but you know you can't shake that feeling in the back of your mind that so much fucked up shit is happening in the world each time you blink.  Nostalgia envelopes every bit of you and spits you out on the curb where you crawl along, ready to start the day, more ready to finish...

Those are some of the thoughts that possess me as I listen to this Small Black's self-titled new EP.  And that's why I'm SUPER EXCITED that they will be in town 5 blocks down the street at Double Door on Monday April 5th!!!

Spinnerette

Spinnerette emerged in March 2007 and released their first digital EP Ghetto Love in 2008. The project was brainstormed by Australian musician Brody Dalle who is no stranger to the mainstream rock scene and has worked with For this project she has collaborated with Tony Bevilacqua (former member of The Distillers), Jack Irons (What Is This?, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Walk The Moon, Eleven, and Pearl Jam) for this project. 

 Not only is Dalle a super cutie, she has a fuckin' awesome voice, something like an angel's harp dipped in whiskey and rolled up in a spliff.  This album is chock full of epic riffs and ultra catchy melodies that will most definitely get stuck in your head more than that Lamb Chops Shit. Be sure to rock this one this spring while skating around feelin' like a badass.

What a Way to Go: Life at the End of Empire is an independent documentary produced by Sally Erickson and written and directed by Tim Bennett. The film displays the life of average Joe American dad of three with a typical stressful job. The film uses the life of this man to highlight more important issues in modern America, and what the film advocates, while not entirely original, is thought-provoking. How the website describes the events of the film:

Black Devil - Disco Club

ok, so i was sitting in my studio thinking about what i
should blog about first and then it hit me:

Black Devil
i heard about these guys a few months back and was told
that their album Disco Club was released in 1978 and that they were
way ahead of their time. ahead of their time doesnt even begin
to define these guys.

here's some info straight from their current (fan run) myspace:

An on-off collaboration between French producers Bernard Fevre and Jackie Giordano -- who credited themselves, respectively, as Joachim Sherylee and Junior Claristidge -- Black Devil released a six-track album of spooky electro-disco entitled Disco Club. Originally released on Italy's Out label in 1978, it became slightly infamous in the disco underground despite its scarcity. A copy eventually fell into the hands of the Rephlex label's PP Roy and soon won the hearts of Richard James and Luke Vibert. Rather than do a straight reissue, Rephlex opted to first release a 12" including four tracks from the original vinyl; after that, they annoyingly trickled out the two other tracks, along with a couple outtakes and a remix from Luke Vibert (under his Kerrier District guise), via 12" and CD single releases that featured different track lists."

 like it says, these killer disco tracks are packed with leery echoing vocals
and outstanding synthesizer leads and really catchy shuffle style drums.

one thing i really enjoyed about these tracks is the crackling from the
original vinyl recordings.
