Moody Blues...heady band from 60's still rocks! Special entertains!

On an off-night, I was channel-surfing, when I stumbled on a live stage performance by the Moody Blues on a cable network.

Within minutes - the distinctive strains of their beautifully orchestrated hits of yesteryear (spacey far-out compositions that are conducive to astral-travelling) - triggered nostalgic memories of my carefree bohemian days in the heady 60’s and 70’s.

Imagine that!

The seasoned heavyweights are still touring the country – and wowing fans – at sold-out houses on the concert circuit.

In spite of the fact the PBS broadcast was essentially a bare bones gig – stripped down to the essentials without the benefit of seductive sound effects or studio sweetening – the set was surprisingly vibrant and lyrical.

In fact, when two dueling guitars (one electric, the other acoustic) dove-tailed (or ran interference with each other by virtue of a bit of controlled-clashing) the effect was dazzling.

Uh-huh!

The Moody Blues succeeded in elevating their musical yearnings to awesome transformative ground-breaking heights.

The distinctive – reflective poetic musings of their youth – still resonate with fans and music-lovers alike.

Unlike a handful of their amazing contemporaries, they may be ripe for a come-back, alright!

In that event, I expect a posse of die-hard fans will be at-the-ready to slap on a platter, pop a hit of acid, and float off into space courtesy of the uplifting musical wizardry of the Moody Blues!

Favorite hit?

"Nights in White Satin", of course!

T.J. Maxx- Great Deals... YES!

T.J.Maxx

T.J Maxx send me a gift card to go and check out what great deals I could find.
And boy did I ever!

I went to the T.J. Maxx in Brickyard Plaza. Not only did they have great clothings but they also had a Home Goods section that was amazing!

I was surprised to find out how T.J Maxx got such great deals. You can have designer looks for way less!
Buyers for the stores travel all around the world 40 weeks a year to meet with 12,000 different vendors, allowing them to snag the hottest in-season trends as they happen and negotiate prices up to 60% less than department stores. 10,000 new items arrive in every store each week, creating a “new store” feel every time shoppers visit.

You can go here to find a store near you.

I took my sister with me (she is a manager of a ( very expensive!) retail store here in Utah) and she loves T.J.Maxx. She said that every time you go in you will find something new!
However, if you love something you need to get it- it wont be there when you go back.

I found kids shirts for $2.50! I found a few books for under $5.00 each.
They had super cute workout outfits for $15.00 for the set.

These however is my favorite item I purchased:

I really don't wear cloths that can't get dirty... I really don't 'cook' that much-
but I LOVE aprons!
So when I saw this- I had to have it!

I was making pancakes on Sunday for breakfast and I don't think I took it off all day ;)

Overall I think T.J. Maxx has great deals! I had my little pea with me when I was shopping and I was able to find plenty of great deals to buy.
My sister says that you do need to 'look' more then at other stores. They have a lot more in their store then others. They can't put every outfit they have on a mannequin.

A Christmas Prayer

Book Sneeze sent me A Christmas Prayer by Amy Parker illustrated by Marijan Ramljak.

This book was a very cute book. Much different then other Christmas books we have read.
It made me feel that it was sending my kids a good message of what Christmas is really about as oppose to just gifts.

It was a little bit of a longer story but keep my kids entertainer the whole story.

These are my cute kids reading A Christmas Prayer before bed tonight.

You can buy A Christmas Prayer on Amazon for just $9.99!

Thank you Book Sneeze for this great book to review- all opinions are my own.

From Fat to Fit!

From Fat to Fit: Turn Yourself into a Weapon of Mass Reduction

I was recently sent the book From Fat to Fit- Turn yourself into a weapon of Mass Reduction by Carole Carson.
Of course I do my best to help myself and my family to be healthy.
However with the high cost of organic foods and gym memberships or personal trainer I think most of us just do the best we can do. One interesting point Carole made in 'Week 5' Counting the Cost- was that over the long run paying for ways for you to be healthy is going to cost you less then paying for everything you will have to from being unhealthy.

Carole Carson's book was such a easy read. I love pictures (you know this if you have ever been to one of my classes :) and she has pictures throughout her book. It made me feel like I was really getting to know her and see what she was writing about.

From Fat to Fit is for all of us. So many times I read a book on nutrition or a healthy lifestyle and I feel that I need to be a doctor to understand what is being said. Not with From Fat to Fit. In this book you will find very clear and right to the point information. The information you are getting is told though stories and Carole's personal experiences.

I wont be going out and hiring a personal trainer however Carol Carson's book opened my eyes to a new way of thinking about being healthy. I will be making some changes for me and my family. This book was filled with great information and motivation stories!

You can purchase  From Fat to Fit: Turn Yourself into a Weapon of Mass Reduction on Amazon for just $11.21!

The Edge of the Divine- Book Review

Book Sneeze sent me The Edge of the Divine by Sandi Patty.

I will admit the book sat on the desk for about three weeks before I had time made time to read it.
I enjoyed this book.
It was a fast read and filled with inspiring messages.

Much of this book had to do with Sandi being over weight and her struggles with how she leaned to accept herself and then lose the weight.

This book was a great reminder of how we are all just human and that we need to remember that about ourselves and other.
It was a great reminder to me that I need not to be judgmental that we are all on the path we are on for ourselves.

This book was funny and made me cry a few times.
Very well written, Sandi's words were very smooth and calming.

I would recommend this book to anyone who has struggled with weight issues in their life or the path they are on with their walk with God.

Rubbermaid House Party!

House Party

Have you heard of House Party?
A House Party is thousands of parties across the country, hosted by people like you. Each event is sponsored by a leading brand and focuses on something cool that the sponsor wants its best fans to experience firsthand and share with their friends.

I was picked to host  Rubbermaid Reveal 'The Clean Little Secrets' - new Spray Mop!

Reveal Spray Mop

I was so excited when my box came.
Below is everything that was inside.

The mop was so easy to put together and very light weight.
Reveal Refillable Spray Bottle
It comes with two bottles that you can mix your own solutions into. I really love this because this makes it super cheap!
Rubbermaid says it can save you about $50.00 per year on cleaning solutions.
I also like that if you are in the middle of cleaning your floor you have a backup of cleaning solution just ready to put in.

It came with a Cleaning Solution sheet of different 'mixes' you could use on your floors.
I had an idea of what I was going to put in my bottles before I even looked at the sheet- however I used one of their mixes for my hard wood floor and I LOVE it!
My floors are super shiny!

Reveal Microfiber Wet Mopping Pad

The microfiber pads are very wide and thick. Rubbermaid states they pick up more then 50% over the traditional mop.
I would 100% agree. I sweep my floor 2-3 times a day and mop at least once.
I do not have to do this as much with this mop- I love it!
Also with it being microfiber I feel that my floors dry a lot faster as well.

I was so suprised to see how well this mop worked!

These are my floors before-

And these are my floors after-

See how shiny!
I just love it!

I had no idea how much Rubbermaid had to offer!
You can go here to their site to check it out.

You can buy this mop at some Walmart stores, Target and Home Depot.

House Party has some great party's right now.

Covergirl's New LashBlastFusion!

I told my sister that I had been asked by BzzAgent to review Covergirl's New LashBlastFusion and she said 'That is the best mascara I have ever used!'
My sister is the kind of girl that wears makeup everyday. I on the other hand do not.
I've had my New LashBlastFusion for about two weeks when I got the opportunity to go out.
I put the New LashBlastFusion on and I have to say... I love it!
The part that you hold is a little big and will take some getting use to.
I did love the way it made my eye look!

This is both me and my Sissy with the New LashBlastFusion on!

About Covergirl's Fist Ever Volume + Length Mascara
Comes in several Shades: Very Black, Black, Black Brown, Brown
Can buy it at most Drug and Grocery Stores
Under $10.00
Hypo-Allergenic and suitable for contact lens wearers
Smudgeproof, Flakeproof and Rubproof

I do have to testify that it is Smudgeproof, Flakeproof and Rubproof!
Because I do not wear mascara everyday I have a habit of rubbing my eyes a lot.
Not to mention we went dancing for four hours at The New Three Way Thursday at Liquid Joe's!
We had so much fun!
There are two things you need to do-
One is defiantly buy the New LashBlastFusion!
The Second is go to The New Three Way Thursday at Liquid Joe's!
While I was there and because I am The Savin' Queen I found out their drink specials:
Thursday and Saturday-$3.00 Domestic Steins of Beer &
$4.00 Vodka Energy Drinks!

This is me on the way home from Liquid Joe's, my lashes still look great!

I am a BzzAgent and I received a Free Very Black New LashBlastFusion for this review.
However, these are my own thought and opinions about the product.

When you go to Liquid Joe's make sure to ask for Holly's section-

REVIEW: MAC Just Dessert Triglass

Okay So I was a little apprehensive about getting one of these lipglosses as I'm not actually a fan of MAC's lipglasses but MAC are probably changing up their gloss formula's as I really like these and also their dazzleglass. These are not tacky at all (I really hate tacky glosses!) and rather thick. Not uber thick so it looks like you're drooling but perfect-thick. I had also heard that these are also very sheer. Well I did get a very sheer one as such (the others didn't particularly interest me) and there wasn't a lot of colour at all, just a lot of glitter (first thing my partner noticed LOL). These are very glittery, more so than the dazzleglass but it is a different kind of glitter (dazzleglass is less in-your-face than this and finer particles, and having an actual shade helps). These glosses last for ages and don't wear off easily at all, which I also find appealing. These are very expensive for what they are, but then I guess it's relative to the pricing for the Couture Collection glosses which have the same packaging which is a little bit of a let down seeing as it is just packaging (what am I saying, companies are all about packaging!...). I have used the gloss over a few days and am finding that they don't really mix up either. I know a lot of people were commenting on that and joking that OCD sufferers wouldn't be able to handle them but they would take a LOT of use to get them to mix up heavily. These glosses also have a lot in the tubing as well. Again, people have commented on dazzleglass not being good value for money because they got very few applications from them, whereas these will take a long time to use up. Overall these are very gorgeous and is good for value gloss-size wise, however these are aren't good value price wise, especially if you can't really afford it or justify it. For something that is essentially just glitter you're better off either making your own with reflects glitter and a clear gloss or buying something else. It would be nice to buy one as a special treat for yourself if you've got the cash and would be perfect for glittering up a lipstick, but there are better options out there for sure.

RRP: $42
Limited Edition. Available from Myer until sold out or found on the net... You will have to search on sites like ebay or get a generous person to CP one from overseas that has access to MAC.

I Rate This: 3/5

REVIEW: Dickisons Witch Hazel

This has got to be one of the cheapest toners for the face, and the best thing is, this actually works! Whenever I get a bad breakout (which is usually really bad) I always reach for this! Witch Hazel is a natural product (no alcohol in here either!) which has wonderful healing properties, and antioxidants. I use this for about a week, twice a day and my face has usually completely healed. It costs $5.70 and is found at the supermarket. It is also nice to use in summer to refresh your face and leaves it feels cool and clean. Best used after cleansing, this also does not dry your face out, leave it shiny or with a fine film on your face! This product also has a pleasant smell which is not strong at all.

RRP: $5.70
Available at the supermarket

I rate this: 4/5!

and this is what witch hazel looks like when it's not in a bottle!

REVIEW: Rae Morris ~ Makeup: The Ultimate Guide

This book is sensational! This book teaches you about so many things from bronzing basics to false lash application, contouring and highlighting right through to a simple brush guide.
This book also contains various looks you can create, and not just for young people either, but also people of colour, of age and race. It has evening looks as well as simple but sweet day looks that anyone can create! The only problem I find that this book has, is that I would love to know which products are used as they look so awesome I'd love to try them out, but there is no reference at all. It has very fine brush details and gives you what you really need, not what you think you might need, or what somebody might try and sell you.
Very nice, with excellent blow-by-blow photography!
The brow section is very outstanding too!
Thumbs up all round with this book!

RRP: $39.95
Available at Borders or Amazon.com

I Rate This: 5/5!

REVIEW: Clinique's 7 Day Scrub

I love a good exfoliator, I really do, knowing that my face is REALLY clean makes me feel good. This exfoliator does just that, although I have noticed that lately, this product leave a very slight film on my skin, which I wash away with my cleanser. (I exfoliate first then cleanse, then tone, moisturise etc...) I have been using this product for years, and it is gentle enough to use everyday, hence the name 7 DAY SCRUB. The exfoliating particles are made from plastic if you can believe, which I am sure aids the product in being able to be used everyday unlike many other exfoliators that are very abrasive. You do not need a lot, and this can last for months when an appropriate amount is used. I only rate one product better than this is the way of exfoliators which is the St. Ives Apricot Scrub, but that is too harsh to be used everyday. So as a light EVERYDAY exfoliator, this is it baby!

RRP: $47 for 100ml
Available: Myer and David Jones

I rate this: 4/5

REVIEW: OPI's Don't Toy With Me!

I love Opi, it's by far my fave brand in regards to nailpolishes. This is a beautiful Cherry Red with glitter. It's smooth to apply and now with the extra wide brushes, its easier to apply too. It was part of the xmas collection and comes in both the full size or as a mini with the xmas Toy Box mini's collection. This is my new fave!

RRP: $19.95
Available at David Jones and good beauty salons

I rate this: 5/5!

Photo not mine, I couldn't get a good shot so I've "borrowed" from lextard on flicka. Check her out!
