Well SHIT!

Summer is over and I can't believe it, but that doesn't mean the fun is over too! Fall is here and that means everything is going to get real damn nostalgic right before Chicago's devil-winter hits.... So be sure to dance your asses off and get as drunk as possible before we have to start bringing our heavy coats to the bar.

And how better to dance than with a brand new hour long mix from the brazilian electro kings The Twelves! This mix features tons of great tracks, including some unheard Twelves originals >:D

Paypur

We rowdy yooths have loved AC Slater ever since we first heard his old knocking hardcore tunes. Those days have since passed, yet what he has done with Pitched Up and Nightshifters is nothing short of bliss. The newest EP on the Nightshifters label from Udachi & Jubilee,"Paypur", "could easily be the biggest release of 2009" as stated by AC Slater himself. Listen for yourself and don't forget to head over to Beatport to purchase the EP.

It's Summer, let's relax.

Normally I'm a banger and bass type of guy, but sometimes I want something with a little groove. Something where the response is not in the build, but variation of beat. Pause with out cause, a lone snare reverberating for a bass drum to kick off the melody. The moment where the crowd lets off their shell in a hand clap and sine wave, not a DJ pouring vodka down their mouthes.

It's the girl in the paisley dress, dancing to herself; sometimes it takes courage to get on the floor and dance with her. In that brief moment of dancing with her you notice:

The way she tossed her hair.

The way her shoulders moved.

The way her hand moved down your back.

The way her feet moved away, but ever cautiously towards you.

And what seems like a flash in time, her friend calls her out for a cigarette.

And... That's what I think is what makes great disco. It's all in the chase. The songs are never long enough. Sometimes I wish I could sink into the lush sonic soundscape, but it's made to move to. That's where the fun is; the fleeting moment to let considerations aside. No matter how brief, experience it for what it is.

I'm pretty fucking hammered and I swear I won't be nearly as emo in the future.

MJ Vs. MSTRKRFT

Yeah, it sucks that Michael Jackson recently died. I mean, he did for DancePop what the Beatles did for Rock n' Roll! Sure he had his fair share of bad press, and he's been getting way to much press now that he's in the dirt. So that's why I promise this will be my one and only Jackson Tribute Post.

Don't deny it, the guy could cut some fuckin' rug!

Mightyfools

In sequence with their upcoming Australian tour Mightyfools sent us a hot hot hot summer mix. The mix includes tracks from all over the place, wrapping itself and the listener in a warm blanket of electronic satisfaction. These two really know how to throw down on the decks, and if I was lucky enough to be spending my summer in the land down under, I would not hesitate to catch one of their many summer tour dates. Enjoy and don't forget to do a little shakey shakey.

ColdBlank...It Offends Me, Yeah!!

Hey Yoothz! If there is anything that offends me more than free speech, protests and y'know those one things that G.W. Bush so 'rightfully' abolished.... (oh yeah, rights!) it's definitely heavy bass. I find nothing more disgusting than a bass that fucks with your heartbeat and rattles your brain like your ears were pencil sharpeners.

Actually that is what you would hear if I was Jabba-The-Rush. I, in fact, love nothing more than a disgustingly fat bassline. Especially when the song has a great hook too. Which is why I'm so happy that Hollywood's own Cold Blank Cold Blank (the guys that brought out that awesome rmx of Designer Drug's - 'Back Up In This") have just released a new rmx of Does It Offend You, Yeah's great from-way-back-when 'We Are Rockstars'.

Sunglasses?

Hey everyone! I'll jump right in. There is only one genre of music that can make me get goosebumps, and make my hair stand up at the same time. That music is electronic music. Anyway, I'm scrolling through my many tracks in iTunes looking for something that will make me electronically satisfied, and I stumbled upon Triobelisk. These swedes are sweet. They have an almost religious feel that's addicting. I also posted the Outputmessage remix of "Shield Your Eyes", fist-pump if you fancy it. Triobelisk's myspace page has their EP up for download for your choice. Free or a donation. Have a listen!

I'm an American God-damnit! I Have Rights!

Many strange things occurred at DEMF this year. I'll be the first to admit that after a long day drinking $7 beers, entering and exiting piss-soaked Porta-Potties, baking in the sun and sneaking off to smoke blunts, one can become a bit delusional. As I'm dancing at a stage that I don't know the name of, listening to a DJ that I don't know the name of, something caught my eye. No, it wasn't the crowd of young ravers with suspiciously over-sized pupils. Nor was it the fact that I could see Canada across the river, momentarily inducing flashbacks of my infamous Windsor trip with B-jangles to see MSTRKRFT play an impromptu DJ set at a bar called the BoomBoomRoom. Me being 19 and way too drunk off Jager-Bombs and Molson pints inevitably led to me trying to fist bump JFK, which again, inevitably led to me being dragged out of the bar, inevitably punching a bouncer in the mouth and later inevitably bent over a trashcan by two of Canada's best and brightest police officers, cuffed and thrown into one of Canada's best and brightest Paddy-Wagons (with, surprisingly, someone even drunker than me) and finally being thrown into one of Canada's comfiest concrete Drunk-Tanks screaming
"I'm an American god-damnit! I have rights!"

No, what really caught my eye was an eerily familiar looking beard-faced man. From twenty drunken, raver-filled yards I squinted my eyes and gazed upon this man's face intently forcing myself to remember where the fuck I recognized him from. After about ten minutes of shifting my gaze from his face, to the DJ, to the crowd, it finally hit me! I grabbed at my brother screaming into his ear "Holy fuckin' shit dude! Look over there...LOOK! Dude, I swear to God that's Busy P!" Indeed, my assumption was retorted with a quick glance in the vague direction I was pointing followed by a roll of the eyes and an elbow to the ribs that seemed to say "Fuck off nerd, I'm trying to dance."

Not until the next day were my assumptions confirmed by Randolf aka Deastro, a back-stage-pass-wielding friend of mine who told us that it was indeed none other than Busy-P himself, flown out by a friend simply to enjoy the glories that are DEMF. He also mentioned how bad Busy P's English was. But that's okay, my French is absolute shit, or as they say in Paris: Le chien a mordu mes testicules et a couru loin avec eux....

I find it pretty awesome that Busy P. could take time out of his, uh...Busy schedule? to visit the home of techno and dance like the rest of us. Seriously, sometimes I wonder if this guy ever sleeps, especially after visiting Coachella '09 with his entire Ed Banger Records crew (Justice, So Me, Medhi, Fafi, Gaspard, Sebastian, Kavinsky, etc) promoting their new clothing line Le Coolcats. So if you ever wanted to get your hands on some of those rad-ass tees featured on Justice's "D.A.N.C.E" vid, here's your chance! Go to the Coolcats Store.

The Voice of Treason

Well howdy fuckin' doody Yoothz!! MooseMoose and I just got back from the Detroit Electronic Music Festival, and needless to say it was an amazing weekend of heavy drinking, sweaty dancing and more drugs than you can shake that ass at! I feel pretty damn amazing despite the fact that 99.9% of my serotonin is all but spent. However a nice lil' trinket in my inbox filled my brain with more brainjoozez!

Needless to say there are quite a few people who are just hoppin' a train-car on the Electro Express, but even if you did catch the scene later than some, chances are you've still heard a thing or two from LA's electro prince
Le Castle Vania.

But here's the deal: even if you haven't heard any of this kid's tracks (boasting those classic LCV sounds like grindy synths, destructo-bass and drums that drive like a hummer through a fuckin' warzone) here is your godsend of a chance!

SkullCandy, y'know, those guys that make those uber rad headphones (of which even I enjoy using a pair when just cruising around on the internet) are presenting a sampler including much of LCV's remix work. If you get the chance to catch him live, you'll be able to get your hand's on one of these coveted lil' goodies. However for the rest of us, well...we just get to download it, which is good enough for me!!

Hot Pink Delorean + The Faint

YoothBrigade favs hot pink delorean just hit us up with a bangin' new collab rmx of the faint with their good friend knowlton walsh. This track starts off easy going then slams into that destructo-bass you would expect from hpd. They've been playing this track out for about six months at all their live shows and just recently had to go-ahead to blog the shit out of it....which is exactly what we're gonna do!

I'm happy to say he sent me a few new rmx to share with all of you Yoothz!

Return of the Miyagi!!!

Mr. Miyagi have been one of my favourite electro groups since I first heard them in early 2006 and beyond, with massive remixes of Melomanic's "Get You" and Cicada's "Beautiful". But it's been a while since I've heard anything about the Swedish duo and have been scratching my head in bewilderment asking myself "What the fuck happened to one of the blog-scene's most up-and-coming electro groups??"

Luckily my prayers to the disko gods were answered and Mr. M sent me two new originals, hard hitting and fucking awesome as ever!

Designer Drugs + LCV!!

I'm always happy when my boys Designer Drugs release a new track. Imagine the double-awesome-pleasure when with YBB fav Le Castle Vania teams up with Computer Club and rrrump and pumps out a stellar rmx for the New York duo!

Back Up In This is a club banger for sure, showing a little unexpected housey flavor, while still keeping those classic LCV sounds you always expect and can always shake that booty to. Much thanks to electro label Always Never! for the tracks :D

Pillage - More than "Okay"...

You may remember Pillage!!!! from here and there. And if you missed those posts I recommend you download those tracks immediately!! Pillage are YB's good friends from France and they make some really solid electro.

Pillage!!!! doesn't bring quite what you would expect as far as club tracks go, but the the quality of production, dance-ability, and all-out-funkiness remain eminent in their music nontheless! I was really excited to receive a message from them on our myspace brining some great news: their new track "Okay" was featured on a sampler for a recent issue of Trax Magazine, a prominent electro mag based out of France. Just wanted to lend my congratulations to these guys.

Great band. Great Track. N'Joi.
