This year has been the year of the pop, indeed. The frontwomen of pop music Katy Perry, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and Ke$ha have been dominating the charts for the entire year, one after the other. This year saw many British acts enjoying continued success with the likes of The Wanted, The Saturdays, Cheryl Cole, Pixie Lott, Alexandra Burke and Matt Cardle amongst others having a truly great year.
The women of Country music have also put up a big fight, with Taylor Swift breaking more records with third multi-platinum album
Speak Now, Carrie Underwood headlining an enormously successful
Play On Tour, and Miranda Lambert sweeping up the awards this year.
Then there was the fad that Alicia Keys and Jay-Z started with
Empire State of Mind with rappers including pop singers on their tracks, sparking Eminem's smash collaboration with Rihanna
Love The Way You Lie, T.I. and Christina Aguilera's
Castle Walls and the latest to join the fad, Far East Movement's
Rocketeer with Ryan Tedder that's flying up the charts right now.
Glee was bigger than ever this year and truly made a mark on 2010 in music. But 2010 is just getting us prepared for the epicness of 2011, where we'll see the original ladies battle it out in 2011 - Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson etc.
