The Pakistani president Asif Ali Zardari said, he hopes that the President-elect Barack Obama would reconsider the issue of having a military expedition for the existence of Al-Qaeda and Taliban in the Afghan border inside Pakistan.
The Pakistani government, mainly the president has always been under great pressure by the USA in restraining terrorism. But the U.S authority is very disappointed on seeing Pakistan’s failing role on this matter. Since August and until now there has been almost 18 military expeditions by the U.S military force in the possible suspicious terrorists regions. These expeditions were mostly made by some unknown planes from Afghanistan. Pointing towards the terrorists in Pakistan, Barack Obama have already said that, if he is elected, then the U.S would single-handedly attack on the terrorist regions in Pakistan if its government fails to control the situation.
Zardari thinks that the time has now come when there will be possible changes made on every issue by the U.S and this military expedition on Pakistan is a big matter to think of. So he deeply hopes that Barack Obama would give this issue a second thought and some reconsideration or pre-assessment is necessary.
The suicide bomber killed almost eight Pakistani soldiers. The attack took place near Wana, the main town in South Waziristan in Pakistan's restive northwest. This tribal area is thought to be like a paradise for al-Qaeda and Taleban-linked militants. Pakistan troops have been positioned in the area to fight growing militancy, but attacks have continued.
The vehicle was driver by the bomber into a checkpoint that was protecting a deployment of Pakistan's Frontier Corps. The attack came two days after suspected US missile strikes in the region killed around 20 people.
Lawson's time is over. It's now time for a new search.Pakistan's National Cricket team coach Geoff Lawson has been sacked from his post by The Pakistan Cricket Board just 15 months after the former Australia paceman took the job.
New PCB chairman Ijaz Butt earlier this week revealed Lawson’s contract would not be renewed when it expired in April 2009.The 50-year-old Lawson was appointed Pakistan coach in July last year after Pakistan's first-round defeat in the World Cup in the Caribbean in March. However, he claimed Lawson could not be instantly removed for financial reasons, but the coach has now been given three months' severance pay.Lawson has endured a testy relationship with the local media and had been widely criticised by former players over his management regime and lack of results.
Former coach and legendary ex-captain Javed Miandad is widely tipped as a leading candidate to succeed Lawson, according to several PCB sources, but there was no immediate confirmation.Lawson took 180 wickets in 46 Tests and 88 in 79 one-day internationals for Australia between 1980-89. He had no experience as an international coach but had coached the New South Wales team in Australia.Lawson succeeded former England batsman Bob Woolmer, who was found dead in his hotel room in Jamaica in March 2007 just a day after Pakistan's upset defeat at the hands of Ireland in the cricket World Cup.
