IRS New Filing Date: Valentine’s Day

This is some sort of cruel joke, but the IRS has announced a special Valentine’s Day gift to nearly 50 million tax filers: a delayed start to tax season. Because of the tax cut deal signed late in December, the IRS needs a little extra time to get ready. (It is with some irony that I note that the IRS is totally fine providing extensions for themselves, but a little less generous with taxpayers!)
Here’s who has to hold-off on filing:

"American Idol" loses viewers despite make-over

(Reuters) - A revamped "American Idol" dominated U.S. television on its first outing but lost millions of viewers despite the addition of celebrity judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler.
Some 26.1 million Americans tuned in for the 10th season premiere of the singing contest, down 13 percent on last year's opening show when nearly 30 million watched, according to Nielsen ratings data on Thursday.
The numbers still crushed all other programing on Wednesday night. But after weeks of hype and curiosity over what producers called "a new era," the numbers boded ill for hopes of restoring sparkle to the aging show and reversing a four years ratings slide.
Television critics were mostly unimpressed with their first glimpse of Lopez and Aerosmith front man Tyler as they weeded out good singers from the thousands of early auditions -- without the caustic presence of British judge Simon Cowell.
Cowell, the contest's biggest star, quit in May to launch his own talent show on Fox later in 2011.

Gervais not sorry for GG jokes

Ricky Gervais is adamant he didn't do "anything wrong" during his stint as Golden Globes host and is refusing to apologize for his risque gags.
The British comedian sparked outrage at the glitzy show last weekend with his jokes, which poked fun at the star-studded crowd.
Phillip Berk, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), the group behind the awards, called Gervais' jibes "totally unacceptable", while the funnyman was forced to deny he was pulled offstage during the ceremony and chastised for his remarks.
He has now confronted the controversy in an interview with CNN's Piers Morgan, and insisted he doesn't need to apologize for his jokes, as he was just doing his job.
Gervais says, "I don't think I did anything wrong. I honestly, you know those were like jibes at these people and I'm sure they've got a sense of humour...

Woman Kidnapped as an Infant Finds Family 23 Years Later

It sounds like a movie – even to the young woman at the heart of the story.
Twenty-three years and four months after being kidnapped from a New York City hospital as a 19-day-old infant, Carlina White was reunited with her birth parents this week after playing detective on her own bizarre case for the past seven years.
"I'm overwhelmed. I'm just happy. It's like a movie; it's all brand new to me," White, 23, told New York's Daily News as she arrived in New York from Atlanta to see her birth parents.
Her mother, Joy White, was just as incredulous. "Is it really happening?" she asked. "I always dreamed this."
The reunion follows an extraordinary chain of events that began on the night of Aug. 4, 1987, when a phony nurse nabbed Carlina from Harlem Hospital and disappeared with her.
With NYPD unable to track her down, Carlina was raised in Bridgeport, Conn., under the name Nejdra Nance by a woman named Cassandra Pettway. Around her 16th birthday, Carlina began to believe she wasn't Pettway's daughter – which Pettway then admitted.

So True? So False? Is American Idol Alum Alex Lambert Really Homeless?!

It's not exactly the most encouraging piece of information for hopeful contestants to receive on the eve of American Idol's new season.
But word that season nine semifinalist Alex (no relation to Adam) Lambert was homeless lit up the Internet yesterday, thanks to a Twitter rant by no less an authority than Lambert himself.
And this despite not only going far on Idol, but signing a development deal post-show and starring in Simon Fuller's web series If I Can Dream. So is he really as housing-challenged as he let on? Is he one more example of Hollywood chewing up and spitting out young talent? Hold on to your big red plastic Coke cups, this rumor is…

Alabama Gov: Only Christians are 'Brothers and Sisters'

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley has only been in office three days, but he's already facing criticism for remarks he made the day of his inauguration.
Bentley, a Republican, told a crowd at Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church on Monday that if they haven’t accepted Jesus Christ as their savior, they are not his brother or his sister.
“The governor does not have to be a seasoned politician to understand the impact of remarks like that,” said Bill Nigut, the Southeast regional director of the Anti-Defamation League. “These are remarks of a man who truly believes what he said, apparently. This seems to be quite clear that Christians are part of an exclusive relationship he has with his brothers and sisters and the rest of us are not.”
Bentley was sworn in shortly before he spoke at the church where the late civil rights leader Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. was once a pastor. According to The Birmingham News, during his speech he said it was important for Alabamians to ''love and care for each other." He also told the crowd he is color blind. But just minutes later, he went on to say if they don’t have the same ‘daddy’ then they are not brothers and sisters.

Radio Survivor

According to the internet media, its all about the latest news and updates, internet media provided real hot topic information, that news latest updates is, Everybody’s waiting for the United States government to decide whether to approve the merger of Comcast and NBC Universal. The Federal Communications Commission and the Department of Justice have to bless the marriage, and it appears that the FCC is going to do so with some conditions. These include requirements that the new entity make its content available to competitors on reasonable terms, along with some net neutrality provisions on top of the recent Order that the FCC released in December.
But I’ve got another condition to consider—asking NBC Universal posthumously apologize to Mae West for banning her from its radio network almost 75 years ago.
Here’s what happened. In 1937 West, who was at the height of her career in motion pictures, appeared on the wildly popular Chase and Sandborn Hour in a sketch written by Arch Oboler titled The Garden of Eden. West played Eve. The show’s smooth announcer Don Ameche played Adam. Comic ventriloquist Edgar Bergen brought in his world famous dummy Charlie McCarthy in as The Snake.

New Zodiac Sign Dates: Has Your Sign Changed?!

According to the internet media, its all about the latest news and updates, internet media provided real hot topic information, that news latest updates is,
I don’t know about you, but I get pretty confused by zodiac sign dates. I mean, the cutoffs from one sign to another can be super confusing. Couldn’t they have just been organized by month? Like, if you’re born in October, you’re a Libra. Enough said. Well, to make things more confusing, what if your sign has changed? No, there wasn’t some big astrological overhaul. Your sign has been changing since you were born. Apparently, it’s always changing. And apparently, everything we think we know about zodiac signs is wrong and there are new zodiac sign dates we should be following. Whoa.
According to astronomers (and I guess common sense, if you really think about it), the Earth is in a different spot in relation to the Sun than it was 3,000 years ago, when the study of astrology began and the zodiac signs were developed and assigned. The Earth’s equatorial alignment has changed over time, too! So, if the principles astrology was founded on have changed, don’t our signs also have to change and readjust? It makes sense.

Everyone’s talking about the steamy scene between resident Cougar, Tasha Mack (Wendy Raquel Robinson), and Donte (BET’s 106 & Park host, Terrence J).
Actually, they’re all talking about Terrence J’s exceptional acting skills. He really made me believe he has some prior experience with women.
The sports sitcom centers around a trouble making sports agent, Tasha Mack (Robinson) and her professional football player clients, Derwin (Pooch Hall) and Tasha’s son Malik (Hosea Chanchez) — none of whom can act their way out of paper bags.
Tia Mowry, who announced her pregnancy yesterday, plays Melanie, Derwin’s annoyingly insecure wife. Melanie and Mack don’t believe DJ is really Malik’s son. So Melanie swabs the cute tyke’s mouth for a DNA test, which turns out to be negative.
