New York City Library...landmark renovated! Jewel throws doors open May 23rd!

At long last, renovations at the New York Public Library have been completed, and the locals are thrilled with the end result.

The three-year restoration project was a pain in the butt, for the most part, though.

New Yorkers are looking forward to the dust settling and the end of snarling traffic and ear-shattering noise that caused quite a few headaches daily in the thriving Metropolis also known as the "Big Apple".

The historic landmark building was erected in 1911 and stands at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street.

A rededication ceremony is slated for May 23rd!

However, in coming weeks, film producers are lining up to shine a little next to the dazzling architectural wonder.

For example, word out of Hollywood is that Matt Damon will celebrate the premiere of his new flick - The Adjustment - in coming weeks at the library.

See 'ya there!

COMPLEXIONS...intensive dance workshop with Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson!

For 16 years COMPLEXIONS CONTEMPORARY BALLET has been bringing it’s own unique brand of contemporary choreography and technique to the stage.

Now, a Summer Intensive Program has been developed at the renowned company, with the specific aim of making the COMPLETE DANCER from head-to-toe.

PRECISION, PHYSICALITY, EXPRESSION, and VERSATILITY - these are a handful of the vital descriptive words - often used to describe the intrinsic nature of the programs at COMPLEXIONS.

According to the faculty, complexions now seeks dancers that are not limited by his/her training but liberated by it, for the upcoming August semester in New York City.

It should be underscored that CCB Summer Intensive instructs its students like no other.

It guides dancers to achieve their full artistic potential in the unique and exclusive style of Complexions Contemporary Ballet.

Students are taught the Complexions technique through classroom exercises and company repertoire instruction.

Participants experience techniques designed to cultivate and develop strong, well-trained, dancers who are educated to perform more skillfully and creatively.

Good Riddance Day...Times Square good-bye to blues party!

Cast of American Idiot!

The cast of "American Idiot" will be on hand.

And, a posse of New Yorkers - with tongue-in-cheek - too!

The celebrated occasion?

The annual "toss the blues away" party!

Uh-huh.

Tomorrow, the masses will descend on Times Square with all their bad memories in town from 2010, to offer them up to a giant shredding machine smack dab in the middle of the mean streets of Manhattan!

The diligent few will arive around 12:00 noon on Broadway ( wrap is at 1:30 p.m.) between 46th & 47th Streets - to join in on a joyous occasion with the express intent of ensuring that - by the end of the week - the heady New Year will kick off fresh with a bang and a "pop" and all the "right stuff".

The most creative disposal paying homage to the momentous destruction of "human blues" will win a V.I.P. package to the "American Idiot" stage show currently entertaining audiences on Theatre row.

So, toss on some finery, and head down there on the morrow, eh?

I won't be there in person, but, I'll be there in spirit!

I'm shredding nasty memories of the entire AFI Public Relations staff - an elitist bunch of incompetent shits - who presided over the proceedings this year in Hollywood and ruined the festival for most die-hard movie buffs!

And, giving a good heave-ho to all the cashiers at - Rite-Aid, CVS and McDonald's - who had all the personality, intelligence, wit, and charm - of a worm to boot!

I'm praying next year will be mucho better, how 'bout you?

'Til then.

Macy's Thanksgiving Parade...Kanye West, Jessica Simpson & Big Time Rush!

Big Time Rush to float by with sex appeal!\

The celebrated Macy's Thanksgiving Parade rolls around next week - and promises to be a shin-dig festively bursting out into the streets - that die-hard music-lovers won't want to miss!

According to insiders, floats will be graced with the charismatic presence of Jessica Simpson!

And, for the romantics, teen idols in the band - Big Time Rush - will be at-the-ready to send hearts a-pitter-and-a-patter the long holiday weekend!

Kanye West - hip-hop artist extraordinaire - has signed on to participate in the annual festivities, too!

Gladys Knight sans pips (I guess) will belt out a tune or two also.

Whatever floats your - um - boat, eh?

See 'ya there!

Just read in the car...

Paula Urburu's fascinating account of turn-of-the-century (19th to 20th, by the way) New York. Evelyn Nesbit, underage beauty, was arguably America's first supermodel, her image appearing on everything from serious art prints to bars of soap. This is a story of parental negligence, financial desperation, celebrity, and scandal in a city then emerging as more than a center of commerce, but also as a media dream machine.
