'A love song for Bobby Long'

Young women, or maybe still a girl, named Purslane (Scarlet Johansson) received an information about her mother’s death. She decided to go on her funeral to New Orlean.

When she arrived to the town she found out that in her mother’s house there were living two men. She wanted to move into this special house too. The only problem is that those men didn’t even think about leaving that place. So Purslane moved into the house and started to live with them. At the beginnig it was wery difficult. The girl couldn’t communicate with her roommates, because she thought that their only goal was drinknig. The truth was that men’s lives weren’t so simple as you could think at first. The older of them, Bobby (John Travolta), had been an English teacher some time ago and the second one, Lawson (Gabriel Macht), had been his helper. Their lives were really hard, but you could find out why by watching the movie.

So, those three people were living together and after some time they started to understand and to help each other. They found out some secrets from the past and learned a lot of things about themselves.

This in one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. It’s different from the typical Amercian films. “A love song for Bobby Long” makes you wonder about some important parts of live.

"Old" Star Wars

The trilogy is a classic tale of The fight between good and evil. However instead of happening on earth, the action takes place “…a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.” It involves not only humans but all sorts of frightening and sometimes amusing robots and alien creatures. The heroes of the trilogy are Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia, who work together to fight Darth Vader, the evil leader who wants o take over the universe. Excellent performances are given by stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Alec Guinness and Mark Hamill, but the special effects play a bigger role than any of the actors. There are amazing space battles and gigantic fighting robots with laser weapons. You’ll certainly enjoy the incredible chases on floating motorbikes. You will also be fascinated by some of the strangest creatures you’ve ever seen in completely convincing alien landscapes. George Lucas says: “When I made the original Star Wars I was very interested in creating a modern myth. Greek mythology of mythology from any country, often takes place in an unknown area… and the only area we have now which is like that is outer space.” With this fantastic trilogy Lucas has certainly succeeded in creating a myth that will never be forgotten.

Anastasia

The next story about legendary Anastasia. The youngest child of Romanow dynasty. Fox animation studios made a cartoon about happily found Anastasia- the one person who supposedly alived after Bolshevik's killed all her family and tzar Nicholas.
Ania lived in orphanage until she turned 18. Then she meets Dimitr who is tryaing to fin the real Anastasia and then bring her to tsarina and get the reward. When he sees Ania his convicted that she's Anastasia. He learn her everything about Anastasia, her family, interests and old habits.
Movie makes laugh and cry and it's so cute. I love him because of beautigul music! Special "Once upon a December" in polish version too.
The scientists found her body and they proved that she died years ago. But we can watch her supposed biographys in films, cartoons and books. Maybe that's better?

Singin' in the rain

That song knows everyone! You can ask even kids in pimary schools and they'll tell you what is it. A song which sings all world, a song which everybody understand. But I want to describe the movie "Singin' in the rain" because not all people watched it.
Don Lockerwood, movie star and beautiful actress, Liny Lamont are "the gold pair". They play in a lot of films and people love them!
Don thinks that all women wnt him but everything changes when he meets Kathy. The girl is absolutely diffrent. She saw only one film with him (OMG) and of course she doesn't like Don. He's intriguing of strange woman. They meet again on the party but than Kathy's gone and desolate Dan starts finding her.
His partner, Liny doesn't like his new frien. She's jealous but also too stupid to do something with it.
Don finds Kathy and they both fall in love to each other. But in the same time all film companys start to make movies with sound. This is a big problem for Liny because she's got terrible voice.
The film attains success in 1959. But I want to write about choreography. It was AMAZNIG!!! I've never seen something beautiful like that before. I love it for tap-dancing. It was fantastic how they were dancing.
But that film is (for me) false. That all smiles and moves was awful. I hate when somebody act someone who is not. That's embarrassing.

"Before Sunset"

Do you remember Jesse and Celine? The two young people who met in Vienna? That magic day was 9 years ago, but it still isn't the end of the story. Wat has been happening with them for this all years? Let's see...

Jesse became a writer. He wrote a book about that special meeting in Vienna. Now he is visiting Paris to promote his book. He's married and he's got a son. So, family-man. Celine hasn't got a husband, but she's got a boyfriend. Acctually she's with him only formally. He often leaves the country because his job makes him doing this, but truth is that Celine doesn't care about it at all. Of course, when he gets back home she's happy, but during every day when she's alone she doesn't miss him.

Jesse's got the meeeting in Paris bookshop which promotes his novel and Celine comes there to see him. He's absolutely surprised, but happy too. She takes him for "a walk" to show him Paris a bit. His plane leaves in the evening, so they haven't got much time. But, is it a problem for them? It has never been. The all story begins again. Everything can be great, but this time, after 9 long years, they've got their own lives and nothing is so simple anymore. Even though they know that they feel something to each other they're talking, laughting, spending time together. Celine and Jesse have decide if they wanna stay together before sunset. The time's going by... Very fast... And Jesse's plane is going to fly without him. And what?! He knows that. :)

"Memories of a geisha"

The story starts in 1929. Little Chiyo and her older sister Get to Kioto. Because of her beautiful eyes, Chiyo goes to Gion where she becomes a geisha. Her sister- Satsu, goes to bruthel.
Young Chiyo lives with the most famous geisha In the all Kioto- Hatsumomo.But she’s jealous about Chiyo’s beauty. She’s Bad for Her and does everything to destroy her life. A Little girl is desolate and tries to Get awal from that place with her sister. It doesn’t work so she Has to stay In Okia, but now not as a beginnig geisha but her slave.
Everything chan ges when she meets a Man who gives her a handkerchief and cherry’s icecreams. From now she wants to be a geisha and again meet that Man.
Her Dreas come true when the great es geisha, Mameha comes to Chiyo and start teaching her everything that geisha Has to know. In short time Chiyo becomes Sayouri and she is the most famous geisha In All Kioto In such a Young age (she’s Orly sixteen teras old).
Film by Rob Mardhall doesn’t show everything about life In that Times. But you can watch it for Ziyi Zhang who playes Sayouri. Movie show (very gentry) a life where the woman is a commodity and isn’t entited to love.

"The lake house"

Kate - a young doctor - has just sold her lake house. She left a letter for a future owner, where she apologized for dog's prints in front of the house and where she said some other things. The letter was found by Alex - an architect - who lived in the same house, but.... 2 years before Kate. Strange, right? I'll explain it to you. Both of them lived in the lake house, but Alex was living there in 2004 and Kate was living there in 2006. First, they thought that it couldn't happen and maybe they were right. On the other hand: that was impossible and it was happening, so they had to manage that situation. Kate and Alex started writting to each other. After some time Alex said that he rememberd that they met one day, on Kate's birthday. That night they were dancing, talking and kissed. That made everything a bit different. Kate was scared of emotion which she felt for him, but she couldn't do anything with it. Of course, there shouldn't be any problem but we have to remember that they were living in totally different ages! That wasn't a good side of the story so they decided to stop writting to each other. And they did.
But one day Kate thought that 2 years ago, on the Valentine's Day young man died in her hands on Daley Plaza. She knew that it was Alex. She wrote to him not to go there, but he didn't answer her. Kate was sure that she would never "meet" him again. And Alex came to the lake house and met her there. The year 2004 and 2006 met. So, it was finally 2005? :)

"Gladiator"

Next movie by Ridley Scott. The story is set in antiquity. The title gladiator, Maximus is a Spanish warrior. He always fights for his emperor- Mark Aurelius. He's great warrior but also wants to be back home, in Spain with his family. Unfortunately the emperor wants to make him his successor. When Kommodus (Mark Aurelius’s son) hears about that he killed his father.
Maximus has to get away but the Kommodud’d army catches him and try to kill him. Young commander runs away to his home. Unfortunately his family is already dead. Desolate, Maximus gets to gladiator’s colony which goes to Rome.
That’s where his career as a gladiator starts. He can’t forget family and what Kommodus did for him. As a great warrior he kills everybody and wins the respect of people. From that moment, they call him- Spanish.
In a short time Kommodus finds out about him and wants to meet him. In the Colloseum’s area he discovers Maximus. He’s angry and tries to kill him again. Next day, they both meet in Colloseum and fight together. Both die.
Beautiful story about an honour, brave and devotion. But the best thing in film is music! It makes you cry and it excellent shows the atmosphere of situations.

"Before sunrise"

Two young people met in the train. He was American and she was French. He was going to Viena and than to the USA, she was going back home, which was in Paris. She had visited her grandmother. This movie begins like a typical romantic comedy, but it isn't what it seems to be. So, those people started talikng. Firstly about the weather, travelling and where were they from. Than about the dreams, love, fears. After some time the train stoped in Viena, so Jesse had to get off. But this wasn't the end of the story. He coaxed Celine into getting off with him. She asked why she should spend all day with a stranger and he told her that if she didn't get off with him he would probably regret this to the end of his life. It worked. Celine got off the train.
In Viena they were walking, visiting some places and talking. They were totally different, Jesse didn't believe in destiny and sings. Celine was think conversely acctually. Maybe those differences made them more interested in each other. The conversation with person who thought not the same as we did, could be a great experience. But, let's get back to the most important thing: the movie. The whole film is just a conversation and even if you think that it can be boring I must tell tou that it's not.Celine and Jesse had their time to the sunrise only, because at 9.30 a.m. Jesse had a plane home. They used the time as well as they could and neither of them were upset about that day, which they spent together. I won't write here what happened when the sun finally got up. Did they stay in Viena? Did they go to Paris or America together? Just see it.

"10 things I hate about you"

Well, not everyone has to be sweet and nice. Kat Stratford absolutely isn't one of those persons. She's got her own opinion about everything and she isn't scared of saying it. Her sister, Bianca is completly different. She smiles all the time, she's nice and she likes pink colour.
One day a boy named Carter liked Bianca very much. But there is one little problem - she can't go out if Kat doesn't. That makes Carter a bit upset, but of course, everything is possible, you just need some shrewdness and a good idea. So, if he wants to date Bianca he has to find someone who'll date Kat. But who will have so much bravery? There is one man - Patrick Verona. Everyone thinks that he is a criminal, so Carter is scared of him. Finally he asks him for help, but it doesn't work. Fortunately there is one more boy who's in love with Bianca, a model - Joey Donner. Another good thing about Joey is that he's rich and he pays Patrick for a date with Kat. The boy has to do few things to ask her out, but finally it works and Bianca can go out too. The problem is that she's not dating Carter. Firslty she likes Joey, but than she finds out that Carter is 'better' than him. Everything's doing so well. Of course just for the day when Kat finds out that Patrick was dating her only for money. She's really dissapointed because she fell in love with him and it happened for the first time in her life. Finally everything ends well: Bianca is with Carter, Kat is with Patrick and Joey is with a big black eye. Well, maybe he just deserves it.
The truth is that I've seen this movie about hundred times and I could watch it again. It's very funny, so this is great to see if you have a worse day. I can't say anything else - just see it. ;)

"Pleasantville"

Pleasantville is a name of black and white sitcom. A teenager, David ( Tobey Maguire) watches this regullary. he loves this serial and knows everything about it. His sister, Jennifer ( Reese Witherspoon) is completly diffrent. She's a rebel.
One evening, in the same time they want to watch TV. David- his serial and Jennifer a concert. They strats fighting and they break the pilot. Fortunately there comes a repairman and gives them a new one. When they push the putton, suddenly...
...They are in David's sitcom! Everything is black and white, perfect and boring! Everyone is kind and nice like in TV. Now, they're Mary Sue and Bud Parker.
Davis is really happy but Jennifer is desolate! She can't believe that. Her brother immediately starts to live like people in the town, but she changes the rules.
In this friendly city there aren't: faires, toilets in bathrooms, places excpt Pleasantville, books with texts and of course colours. Jennifer starts to meet with a team captain and kiss him. He doesn't know what's going on but he really likes this. This change everything! People start to od things completly strange for them before like reading, painting, dating and they discover a new feeling- anger.
A really interesting film with the movie stars. You can watch it and learn how it is when everything is perfect? Awful!

"Lolita"

Humbert (Jeremy Irons) is a writer. He's lokkinf for inspiration so he comes to USA from Europe. He lives in lodgings with Charlott (Melanie Griffith) and her twelve-year-old daughter, Dolores (Dominique Swan). When he sees her first time, he immediately falls in love with sweet Lo. But he's forty and she is just poor, little girl. He calls her- Lolita.
Her mother is a widow, so Humbert decided to marry Charlott to be bloser to his Lolita. But what does that young girl feel? I don't know. It looks like shedoesn't care about it. She just loves her new "daddy".
Unfortunately, Charlott died ans Humbert has to move out. He drives across all country with his Lolita. Their relationship develops but Humbert has got remorses because she's twelve!
Despite her yoong age, this man loves her like a adult woman. he sees in her this things, which he couldn't find in adult woman- amazing senuality and erotism which drives him crazy.
It's a brilliant film by Adrian Lyneand I love it! The movie excellent shows relations between Lolita and forty-year-old man. She grows up, has a baby but he still sees in her this unigue firl. I recommand it all of you

"Atonement"

A genious story about how hard can the consequences of our behaviours be. A young Briony is a beginning writer, so she's got a huge imagination. One day she's a witness of ambiguous situation between her older sister, Cecilia and her boyfriend. Unfortunately she thinks that Robbie hurt her sister. Than it turns out that her cousin, Lola has been raped.
Briony saw a man who did this but she's not sure. As a result of earlier situation she accuses Robbie. Cecilia is deselate.
A few years later, Robbie goes to the army and Cecilia starts working as a nurse in hospital. Older Briony starts to think about her decision. Everything is very complicated and maybe Robbie didn't do it?
A movie is brilliant. Great music, pictures and of course the ending. This is not a regular film, but something more... human. Everybody do mistakes, but not everyone can admit that. Briony was young and she did a huge mistake. Of course she was trying to improve but it was too late. She lived with a feeling that two innocent people died and couldn't be together because of her. That was her atonement. It's really difficult to live with a feeling that you could do something but you didn't do it. You were just watching how everything was going on.
This movie is really worth to see, but if you like romantic comedies like "High School Musical" (or what is this) I'm pleading you: don't watch it!!! Do something for world =)

"Alladin" xD

I'm sure that everyone of you likes fairy tales. I do. Sometimes my mum says that after my 16th year of life I'm going a little bit childlish. Hmm, maybe she's right? :) Anyway, this Easter on Disney Channel (See? I told you!) there was an "Alladin". And at the beginning I have to tell you that I've seen it for the first time! So, now it's time to write something about it.
Alladin is young, poor and intelligent boy who has to steal some food if he still wants to be alive. One day fate smiled to him, but he must to do something to have better life. He has to go to misterious cave and bring a lamp from there. Person who makes him to do this promises him that if he bring the lamp he'll be happy to the end of his life. So Alladin goes to this place, where everywhere is a lot of gold and treasures. With Alladin there is still his best frieng, the Monkey named Abu. It's clecer, funny and fast. Abu very often helps Alladin in his life. So, in tjis cave Alladin founds the lamp and accidentally he becomes Gin's lord. That makes him almost "a lord of the world", bacause he can have everything he wants. Next thing which happens to Alladin in a short time is that he meets a Jasmine princess. They fell in love with each other in a minute, but of course a princess can't marry a poorman. It's good that in fairy tales everything ends well and most characters can always be together.
"Alladin", like the other of Disney's fairy tales, is absolutely incredible. It's funny, light and there's a lot of great songs. I'll never stop watching fairy tales - I love them! Even if I'm like a child because of it ;).

"Wimbledon"

What to do when the carieer is ending inevitable and age isn't as goos as wanted? Well, some people would just let it go. Peter Colt (Paul Bettany) wants to do the same thing. Some time ago was an eleventh tennis player in the world, but now he's the 119th. What does it mean? That 118 players are stronger, faster and younger than him and this fact doesn't make Peter happy. But sometimes fate gives us a chance. For Peter this chance is a "wild card" to Wimbledon. So why not to try? He knows very well that this time he can't win anything and he wants to end his carieer in this (how important) Grand Slam tournament. Each one of English wants to see an Englishman in finals, but on the other hadn everyone knows that there's no chance for this. Hmmm... EVERYTHING CAN HAPPEN, right?
Peter Colt comes to Wimbledon and on the first day he meets beautiful and self-confident Lizzie Bradbury (Kirsten Dunst). She's young American, who comes to London for one reason: she wants to win Wimbledon. A few first matches she's doing great. What about Peter? Well, he's winning too. And that's a little surprise. Everything starts to go badly when Lizzie fells in love with Peter. She can't play as good as she can and she losts. With him is absolutely different. Love makes him better match by match, he's just playing his best (meybe even life) tournament. Than. Peter wins the semi-final game and he's going to play in the final of this Grand Slam! This is unexpected, but every English is very happy, of course. And what happens next? I'm not going to tell you - you have to see this movie on your own. The only thing I can tell is that Peter and Lizzie are together are together at the end, of course no matter what is the score of the Wimbledon.
I really liked this film when I watched it first time. And I've got w piece of advice - when you want to see it again, don't turn on the Polish text. Just listen to their language and try to hear the differences between Brish and American English. It's great to see in "Wimbledon", believe me ;)

Stealing Beauty

17-years-old Lucy came to Italy to visit her mother's friends. The truth was that the girl wanted to get know something about her died mum, who was a poet and a woman absolutely happy in her life.
In sunny Italy everything was slower and different than it was in USA. People didn't acctualy do anything and they lived their own slow lives. Lucy felt great with them, in the house full of persons, where everyone was good friend of another. The girl met a man, who was her nother's mate. Alex was sick, not old but not young either and a little bit misterious. He made Lucy more confident and open to people, he told her a lot of things about her mother and the girl really liked him. Of course she came to Italy with one more hope: that she would meet there somebody who she met 4 years ago (her first time in Italy). Unfortunately, he's changed what dissapointed Lucy very much. Well, nobody's perfect, but she thought that spending time with strange person wasn't good. And she was right. That time Niccolo cared only about girls and their beauty. She knew that she didn't want to made a mistake, so she broke the contacts wit him. But there was someone else. A quiet guy, Osvaldo, who liked Lucy from the beggining, when she even didn't see him. Everything changed. I think that because she learned few important things about her mother. Those information made Lucy's life different. Another very important thing was that she found her true father, who she hasn't known before. That made her a little bit more adult person too. She finally knew who she was and from that moment everything would be absolutely dierent.

"Kate and Leopold"

Kate (Meg Ryan) is a buisnesswoman, who cares only about her career. She's always busy and very sceptic. She lives in New York so her life's really hard.
Leopld (Hugh Jackman) is a really elegant and charming prince, who has to marry a rich woman to protect a family's fortune. Ekhm. Oh! I forgot! He also lives in New York but in about 1890. As a result of an accident he got to XXI century and feels completly lost there.
Of course they met each other and Kate couldn't belive that he was from old ages. She just thought that Leopold was a little crazy. But the time passed and she strted to wonder weather is was the truth what he said.
Kate and Leopld spent tohether all beautiful weekend. They became acquainted and he shows her that life can be funny, great, slowlerand wonderful. Also she feels better and happier than ever after.
Unfortunately he had to come back to his ages, but Kate's friend told her that she had to come back too, bacause he saw her on the picture, which one he took in Leopold's ages.
I think this is the best movie for girls who dreams about the prince on the white hotrse. Acctualy, for sure, everyone of us have dreams like that, hmmm.

"Enchanted"

Once up on a time there was a pretty girl- Giselle. she was dreaming about lovely prince (on white horse) and true love kiss. And of course she met a real prince. They both fell in love with each other. But the bad queen didn't want her son to married any girl. So she sent Giselle to the place where nothing ends happily. To New York.
She felt very lost and confused but suddenly sombody helped her, a kind Robert. That's how a real love story started. She showed him the power of love and he told Giselle about the dates.
They were meeting each other (acctually Robert was finding place, which Giselle was from) when the charming prince was looking for her, and he found Giselle. Unfortunately she didn't love him anymore. Then the bad queen came and transformed into dragon. Giselle's lover had to fight whit it, but in the end, she rescued him;)
This is a very kind and sweet movie about powerful thing in the world- true love kiss. And of course beautiful music.

"Serendipity"

There was almost Christmas. Sara and Johnathan were doing some christmas shopping and they met acccidentally in a shopping center. They both wanted to buy the same pair of gloves. Finally each one of them took the one of this pair. That's how everything started.
They went to a cafe together and they liked each other in a minute. But there was a little problem. Sara didn't want to give Johnathan her number or even the name. She deeply belived in destiny and she thought that if they are meant to be together, the fate wil put her throug to him.
Few years later they suddenly started to thnik about each other even though they had their own lives. Both of them were engaged and they were acctually about to get married. But the fate didn't want to leave them alone. Sara and Johnathan wanted to make everything clear. So Sara went to USA and Johnathan went to England to find each other. Funny. How they wanted to find themselves if they were in absolutely diffrent countries?
Finnaly they met each other in the Central Park at the ice rink and of course everything ended happily. They said that they were in love and there was a big kiss at the end. Well, maybe detiny played there its own role.

IN THE LAND OF WOMEN

After reading the title you could think that it is a typical romance for women. Nothing more wrong. I think that this movie can be for men too and that maybe when they will see it, whey will unterstand women much better.
The story is about a young man, Carter (Adam Brody), who is very upset because of the parting with his (ex)girlfriend. He thinks that he canould feel better when he goes to small city and takes carle of his ill grandma there. So he leaves L.A. and he goes to Detroid to find some quiet and calmness. Opposite Phillis (Carter’s grandmother) there live a family. It seems that they’re an absolutely ordinary family. Marriage with two daughters – nothing unusual. But their life isn’t so simple. Sarah (Meg Ryan), the mother of the two girls, has got a breast cancer. Her husband got an afair and the older daughter can’t speak out with Sarah. And suddenly Carter appears in this hard moment in their lives. These people help one another in normal conversations and being close to each other in tis difficult time.

The movie has got an incredible massage for all of us and it was made very well. It’s got a warm and understanding climate too. There is a great Meg Ryan’s and Adam Brody’s roles in the film. I really think that nobody could play tis characters as well as they. Anyway, thie movie is absolutely worth watching.
