Well, I'm moving in a year, and while its kinda a cool idea, it just makes no sense for me to spend any sort of money when it works fine and looks good as is. I'm not a fan of wall mounts anyway.

this was really nice to rant and rave about nothing. some frivilous fighting each other. some flaming. some misinformation. some information.
but mostly garbage that EVERYONE argues and over reacted about. once the fog settled, turns out to be less than a days worth of argrivation.
new rule: take all os x vulnerabilities with a grain of salt, [in some situations with a whole bag of salt]
someone call me once my macbook is ACTUALLY comprimised.

how hard is it to update via itunes?
Plus... you can backup your iPhone when you plug it in.

agree - apple needs a thin and light 12" laptop or similar.
Yea, but it will never happen. Read through the thread for my reasons why.

I think these new MacBook will do more sound compare to the old ones due to the fan. Because these new twins in the machine are gonna heat a lot. Do you guys think so?

Radio Shack sucks. Anyone who tried to get an iPhone 4 from them can attest to this.

have you all checked how many employees does wal mart have?
about a gazilion.
if they don;t get it their way then they push the government nad comitees to put the presure on certain issues concering the one they want to hurt.
imagine let's say that wal mat due to this apple deal with all studios will make a statemnet saying we lost 10% or our revenues so we will lay off 10% of our employess to cover for the losses.!!
now what do you do in this case?
it's not a free world after all....
not for those who have the power !

Exactly why it wouldnt happen, cause Apple doesn't want to give people choice at one price point. Its either desktop or portable.... pick ur price... and low beho thats the mac for you. Period. No disputing the great Oracles at Cupertino.
Yeah, and that's a great thing for the consumer... Apple will tell you what you need and you'll buy it and like it dammit...

4G can be significantly faster.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4G
So the advantage AT&T currently has over Verizon for Internet and Downloading speed will be taken away once 4G comes into play?

I think the irony has to do with the approval process for Facebook applications (like all of those games people play on Facebook), not access to personal information.
I suspect a lot of that approval is related to security of the personal information obtained within Facebook. Don't applications have some access to that information? As a result, yea. The approval is pretty important.
The sandboxing done on the iPhone means no application can access other applications data, and the only access they have is to the address book. This could be mitigated by prompting the user to allow an app to be granted access to the address book in cases where the app wasn't approved by apple.
Security reasons are pretty small on most iPhone applications.

As for British blacks having it easy, I don't think you would find many of them agreeing with that.
In what sense? Before and after the great war I'd agree, but today I don't entirely see why you'd think this. As i mentioned before, I think britain is the most tolerant country with regards to accepting Blacks, the same can't be said with places like Italy or spain in western Europe and certainly not eastern Europe/Russia. So yes, I don't understand the concept of Blacks having it hard today in Britain other than living in poverty (which, by the way, isn't anywhere near as bad as other European countries where the average income is lower and much greater racial discrimination).

I wouldn't want a stranger poking around my song playlists whether they are jacked in or Zuned in. Other than the dubious wireless song sharing capability of the Zune, I don't think it competes at all feature-wise against the iPod and won't pose a threat to Apple's delicious dominance.

I just want the graphics card to be more than a lame 64MB. Every other manufacturer on the planet has at least 128 in their notebooks shared or otherwise.
I would buy a Macbook in a heart beat if they did that. Hell... With the money I'll save from buying a Macbook pro I might get two one black and one white.
I would actually take that kind of change over an HD or RAM boost since that's
one of the components you can't upgrade.

So Walmart is full of obese hillbillies?
I bought my iPad 2 at Walmart: 7 folks in line, 15 iPad 2's. Everyone was very nice. Im a 24yr old 6'2'', 190lb Systems engineer(with all my teeth)...and I shop there all the time. Dont hate...
I went to walmart on launch day at 4pm I was #5 in line and they had 6. Best Buy had 40 in line. I was out of there by 5:05 with my 64 gig wifi. I ordered one for my wife on line I got a 5 week date. They sent my cover right away, and took full payment from my debit card. Thats why they should send the ordered ones before they open to another chain.

We heard something really similar to that when every other company released video-playing mp3 players before Apple did, and Jobs said he didn't see anybody wanting to have portable video. Well, Apple bit its tongue and released it, calling it "innovation".
I'm a big iPod fan (i've purchased 3) but wireless capabilities is the way of the future. I don't see ourselves in 10 years still being limited by wired headphones and such. Maybe it'll be easier than the Zune (haven't seen the demo) but the idea of beaming a song for somebody else to download/hear is pretty cool to me.
I agree. But, I don't think the "social networking" aspect will fly, when combined with a restrictive DRM scheme. I too like the idea of being able to sample a friend's musical library, but there is too much fine print with the Zune implementation. As for the specific "it will get you dates" selling point, as Steve said, that's pure crap.
IMHO, Steve is really good at deconstructing the bad approaches to cool technology others promote. As with video, prior to the iPod with video (and even after) I saw several ads showing people out on a busy city street watching videos on their no-name video player. It was, and continues to be, a stupid idea for a way to use a portable video device, yet since that's what's being marketed it gives Steve a nice target for mockery.

More great news. I wonder where the limit on this growth will be?
I'm not trying to pee in Apple's Cheerios at all...but i do wonder at what point will they reach a plateau in sales growth. That said, I don't think they're close to it yet...China is becoming a great new market for them...

Reception to the original iPod launch was mixed. Our own forum responses (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=500) are interesting to look back on, 10 years later.
Well, sure, but that was ten years ago. We're much more sophisticated now. :D

We're going to get a video nano... and then a month or two later a true video ipod.
It's the standard apple jive... realease one that we want and then another that we want more.
I will make a prediction right now that we'll never see a video nano. The screen is just too small. It might make an interesting curiosity, but not a viable product, IMO. The iPod video now is difficult enough. Of course, I'm rarely right on anything. :)
I'll stick with my 5G video iPod until a widescreen iteration of the product becomes available next year or so.
